Nominations for the 2026 West Coast Electric Power Trust election open on Wednesday 10th December 2025, and will close at midday on Friday 16th January 2026.

2026 Election of Trustees

The West Coast Electric Power Trust (the Trust) is an energy trust and holds investments on behalf of its beneficiaries, being electricity consumers connected to the network of the former West Coast Electric Power Board (now Westpower Ltd). The Trust is governed by up to six trustees who are elected on a rotational basis. In early 2026 three trustees must retire by rotation. The Trust now invites nominations to fill those three positions. The retiring trustees can stand for re-election if they choose.

Nominations for the trustee positions open on Wednesday 10 December 2025 and close at midday on Friday 16 January2026. Candidates do not need to be electricity consumers but must be enrolled as parliamentary electors within the Trust district. A deposit of $100.00 must be paid with each nomination made.

Nominations must be made on the official nomination form and can be completed online or in hard copy format. Nomination documents can be obtained by calling the free phone election helpline 0800 666 030, emailing nominations@electionz.com or by download from the Trust’s website www.wcept.org.nz. A candidate handbook is available with the nomination forms.

If a voting process is required it will be carried out by postal and internet voting.  Voter packs will be sent to all eligible consumers on 16 February 2026, with election day being Thursday 19 March 2026.
